The On-Shelf Availability Challenge 2007-2008 Report

The On-Shelf Availability Challenge 2007-2008 Report is the result of the largest survey in Australia and New Zealand into the status and perceptions of on-shelf availability in our industry in our region.

Poor on-shelf availability continues to be a key operational challenge for retailers and manufacturers due to its negative impact on the top and bottom lines and on consumer sentiment.  It is also resistant to easy solutions.

With loss sales linked to poor on-shelf availability costing the Australian and New Zealand food and grocery industry over AUD$3.2 billion, there is broad consensus that this issue is mission critical and one that is set to become more serious in the near future.

The report provides an excellent first step in understanding the complexities and issues surrounding on-shelf availability and more importantly provides a framework for further developments.
